Is it normal to dislike the term "hot"?

I really hate it if a person is called hot. I mean, food can be hot, or the weather can be hot, so the word "hot" itself doesn't bother me, but when I hear about a "hot" person, it makes me wanna throw up. The only way for a human to be hot, is to have fever, imho.

is it normal to hate a commonly used term like that?

I see what you mean, surely there are a myriad of other words to describe something or someone that is aesthetically pleasing.

Yeah, I see what you mean there. Hot should be exclusively for temperature.

Cool is cool, but hot is not. :3

"Hot" in that sense is slang. Words like that come and go. In a couple years they will say "sizzley" for hot or some other stupid slang word. If you don't understand the language, slang can be used for a crutch.

  • Yea I see what you mean. I don't know about wanting to throw up when I hear it though. Lol. To me, I always found it to be kind of insensitive and even rude. Which is weird because I have nothing against the word "cool". Maybe because "cool" usualy has to do with the personality being likable whereas "hot" is usually used to describe how sexually attractive someone is. Insensitive. Lol. Just my ideas..

It's an over-used term, for sure, by mostly appearance-conscious people ogling other appearance-conscious people. Sounds pretty superficial and shallow, no?

    • That's not even my point, I wouldn't say I'm completely non-shallow, I love beautiful looking (female) people, as long as they are not "hot", but pretty, beautiful, any other word.

I'm completely shallow, or maybe hot blooded is a better word. I love girls who are hotter than a firecracker. JLo is an example because of her pulchritudinous ba-donk-a-donk. It's practical too since it provides a place to set your drink.

The term "hot" as a descriptive word, came from the belief that ones physical appearance, and good looks, could cause your body temperature to rise.

So how do you feel about describing someone as "cool"? Btw, I can see your logic, although I suppose a "hottie" could at least raise someone else's temperature by getting them excited. I don't like the term "looker". That's just inaccurate in so many ways!

    • surprisingly, the word "cool" is not a problem for me. I didn't even think about its several meanings.

Why is the term "looker" inaccurate, in your opinion?

because looking good is (at least grammatically speaking, lol) something passive, not active. It would be like referring to a nice perfume as a smeller. Also, I think someone could be a looker for the wrong kind of reason. People with disabilities or some sort of disfigurement sometimes get stared at, too. So in that sense they would also be lookers.
