Is it normal to dislike happy endings?

I hate how Hollywood creates unrealistic happy endings for films. In Die Hard, I wanted Bruce Willis to nearly win but then lose his footing in the skyscraper and plummet to his death.

In When Harry Met Sally, I wanted Meg Ryan to get a sexually transmitted infection from Billy Crystal and never see him again.

In Stargate, I wanted them to not be able to get back through the Stargate and succumb to strange desert illnesses which killed them all within a week.

I also don't understand why Rick Moranis exists. What is he for?

    Happy endings bother me too, but I guess it gives us hope that we wouldn't find in real life.

    I like realistic endings. I hate movies that all the main characters live. If no one dies but the "bad guys" I get SUPER pissed off lol!

    When I read the title, I was wondering why you would continue to ask for happy endings at the end of your massages if you didn't enjoy them. :)
    Anyway, I find unrealistic endings to movies irritating, as well as the happy endings. Purposeful surrealism just ticks off the pessimist inside me. I was having an argument a couple of days ago as to whether the ending of crank was a happy one or a sad one, either way, Jason's character should have looked like pudding after that. The point is, you are hardly one in a million.

    A movie with an unexpected sad ending would be awesome. Like the book "Lies of Silence".
    Also, since someone mentioned the song, how cool would it be to be watching a real intence film, like Inception or The Shining, and then the ending is a Rick Roll?!?! LOL!

    AHAAHAHHA I was just at my boyfriends house today watching House of Wax and the ending annoyed me. Because it was so unrealistic. I highly doubt that those siblings would really survive getting out of a melting wax house. Like really. I was like 'someone should die right now, this is stupid.'

    The only way I could watch stargate, was because I knew they would make it alright in the end. Sad endings make me depressed :(
