Is it normal to dislike a character from a tv show to this extent?

A TV show I used to like introduced a character I immediately disliked because of her bland, selfish personality. Then, this character was used by the writers to break up my favourite couple on the show because they decided the guy should prefer the bland, selfish woman over the other woman who was characterised as brave and loyal. This ruined that guy as a character for me even though he had previously be one of my favourite characters. All of this annoyed me so much that it ruined the whole season for me. Is it normal to dislike a character from a TV show to this extent?

    I wanted to kill Steve Carnell for the longest time because of how annoying he was on the office. So yeah, I'll sAy it's normal.
