I've thrown out the umbilical cords of both my children as soon as they detached. My mother-in-law was mortified by what I did. But just a thought of a dead, dried out human flesh being somwhere around in my house creeps me out and really disgusts me. Ps: I love my kids dearly.
Of course it's normal...it's not like you're gonna keep their first shit either. Hair? Maybe. Dead skin? Not so much.

I'm due in 8 weeks and I don't plan on keeping the umbilical cord, My Grandmother wants me to but I honestly see no reason to keep it. I will already have my son so I don't want to keep the cord. What the hell am i going to do with it anyways??? gross...

She has the umbilical cord of her own child(s), so she doesent need it. your kids dont need it and you dont need it. just tell her that.
