Is it normal to despise my boyfriend's mother?

My boyfriend and I had a child three years ago. During my pregnancy and since, she has been rude and dominating. I do think that she likes me, but wants me to be like her and do everything her way. Lately, she has been making rude comments about my son's clothes and the way his hair is cut. Plus, she is a very "nasty" woman. For example, she has a weird fetish with wanting my son to drink after her and she smells like s**t because she chooses to live in a dirty home with a large amount of cats. Anyways, this has made me despise her. I do not wish her serious harm, but I'd love to beat the crap out of her. I have started feeling sick to my stomach at the sight of her or the sound of her voice. Is it normal for me to hate her so much?

You are his choice and she should respect that for him if she can't bring herself to respect you. He should stand up to her for you. Just don't get overbearing like her when you ask him to.

I hope your mom likes him. But if not, same thing (he's your choice).

  • Most men don't like their woman's father, and most women don't like their man's mother. Usually they're overprotective or just hate you.

I understand how u feel about the drinking thing. I get really pissed about that with my kids. Yes his mom sounds single, sounds like she raised him to be the man she never had.

LOTS of women cant stand their man's mother, especially when the mom is overbearing and critical. It's because she sees you as a threat, you and her son have a strong relationship and she wants him for herself, and she wants her grandchildren to be raised how she raised her kids, but its shes unsanitary and rude its totally within your right to dislike her, just be careful about expressing how you feel around your BF because he will probably get offended. Just care for your kids, love your man, either she will back off and realize that you are capable and deserving of her son, or if she doesnt flat out tell her to keep her mouth shut ( as respectfully as you can manage)
