Is it normal to deny your british heritage?

I am English and German by blood, American by citizenship. is it normal that I deny my British heritage? Most of my physical traits are German anyway, thank goodness.

    • 'Tis merely a legal matter, Mr The Cat. Everyone is a citizen of somewhere. I am an non-British German person who currently resides in America. I'd get a dual citizenship but that would cause my brother to lose his job, so out of respect I will not do that to him.

Be proud your British. I have French, Norweigan, Welsh, Scottish, German, hell ive even got a spec o' Irish in me. But im mostly English, its the one part of my heritage im actually more proud of than anything in all fairness.
I hate my german heritage, not just because I grew up in a more or less anti-german environment, but because my Dads german, i hate my dad.
Im french - I like surrendering.

I'm Spanish, German, Welsh, Scot-Irish and English but I guess that's normal for an American and I'm fine with all of it. I think Germans are awesome!

I am proud of being British, more fool you for denying it. :)

Not caring about it would be fair enough - if you don't identify with the culture of your recent ancestors then it's not worth worrying about.

But denying it? That seems odd. You harbour some prejudice against British people / Britain. Why do you care so much if people know you have Britain in your family history? Why does it bother you or matter to you at all?

What do you have against the British?

    • They drive on the wrong side of the road and they lost the second Anglo Dutch war badly, for starters.

We drive on a *different* side of the road to you. I genuinely don't understand why that's a problem, although I don't drive, so maybe I'm missing something. To me, it just seems like a very silly thing to fuss over. I don't understand either of your reasons actually. I'm sure the Germans might have lost wars at some point:P. Doesn't stop me from loving Germany!

Are you nuts? That'd be insane and reckless.

How are you supposed to change gears? You hold the wheel with your knees, jack off with your right arm, leaving the left free to change gears.
