Is it normal to date somebody without knowing their age?

I had a night stand with a guy but made the mistake to add him on Facebook. We discovered we had so many things in common and we have been seeing each other a lot . When I first saw him I thought he looked old; I'm 21, he looked 30! I didn't mind not knowing but things are getting pretty serious now and I don't know how to deal with it! Has anybody ever had the same problem?

You pretty much broke the ice already by fucking him. Dont be afraid to ask questions, things cant get any more awkward from here on out. Strike up a conversation about birthdays and Zodiac signs and throw in the question what year he was born. Do the math.

    • Mm this doesn't sound too bad. I will do that!! It seems much easier than just going 'hey how old are you by the way? I've been fucking you and couldn't be bothered asking'

It's not really a problem, just ask him. Is it a problem for you if he's older than he looks?

    • Well I wouldn't like him being like 40 (so almost 20 years older)

Well, if that's the case the sooner you find out the better then, huh?

I would ask him his age. Worst case he is as old as your dad, or grandpa.

the paradox of our times is we're living in the age of communication and nobody has anything to say

What does it matter what age he is. As long as the sex is good, who cares?

so long as you're both of legal age it's okay to not worry about it straight away... is his actual age not up on facebook?

Why not ask then? Can't hurt at this point.

        • He would obviously tell me but won't he think i'm stupid for asking now? he's going to think i'm childish?

psh no, just bring up the topic of birthdays or something then go "hey, not that it matters but how old are you anyway?" then he'll tell you and you go "that's cool" make some joke about him being an old fart followed by a good natured laugh (do this even if he's only a year older than you) then move on with the conversation. Possibly comment you thought he was younger, joke it's because of his dashing good looks or something.
