Is it normal to date a distant cousin?

I want to know if it’s normal to Date a distant cousin? I’m not sure how the whole classification of 2nd, 3rd, & 4th cousins works.
My story:
I met this guy for the first time at my house with his uncle. I thought he was pretty cool so we started to hang out a lot and We got really close. I didn’t find out until afterwards that supposedly we were related. He is my father’s 1st cousin’s nephew. Would it be wrong to date him or no?

everyone is your cousin... although some more distant than others. especially if you live in a town with few newcomers and leavers!

by the way, i'm not some kind of inbred, i'm just saying what's probably true in general

  • ok, his uncle is either his father's brother or his mother's brother, or an uncle by marriage. if he's an uncle by marriage, you are not really related to him by blood at all.

but otherwise, if his uncle is your father's first cousin, that means that his father or mother is also your father's first cousin. that means that two of his great grandparents are your great grandparents as well.

so he isn't really that distant. hope that helps alittle, or did i get something wrong?

Just fuck like rabbits. It will be fun. Also let other members of the family watch. Eventually you will be fucking them too so why not?

if the royal family can do it as in the QUEEN OF ENGLAND her and her children, why can't you? Prince William and his new wifey are cousins...The government make the rules of what is normal and what is not... you know. Maybe it can only be normal for them BECAUSE their bloodline must be kept sacred and intact to survive as royals...and the people underneath them are forbidden TO HAVE A PURE BLOODLINE, because no one else can be royal. WELL you know how sick those reptilian illuminati scum think about things.

People often state incorrectly what a relationship is regards family. For example my first cousins child is my first cousin once removed. Many people call that second cousin but it is incorrect.

I don't think there is a problem, after all it doesn't mean that you will actually have kids so go ahead.

it depends on how you are cousins, and what you do. Attraction is fine, but it is frowned apon and if your related by blood and go all the way, a child would have blood problems.

To me, that is distant enough.

clarification, the 6-7%% is the actual percentage of risk. It does NOT mean you add 6 4 or 7 4 to equal 11.

Genetically, even first cousins can produce children without the heightened fear of their children having genetic defects. Having kids with a stranger has a 4%% chance of your kids having a defect, while having kids with your first cousin is only slightly greater (6-7%%).

Now socially is a different stories. In a lot of societies relationships and marriages between cousins are a norm. But for some, they are not, and I'm only talking about first cousins. If you two are related, you are only distantly related. If you don't find it a problem and neither does your family, I don't see a problem with it. Whether you choose to divulge this information or not to strangers is up to you. If you find their reactions damaging, then it's not any of their businesses whether you are related to the nth degree or not.

  • Ummm find someone that your not related to and avoid all the complications of having a relationship with someone your related to. Your not in love with him so move on.

I think that would make him your third cousin...kind of. Testing for compatability would be a good idea. I don't think it's a big deal.

Pretty sure he can only be called ur father's cousin's nephew only if related by law:

The only way he could be related is if he was ur father's cousin's son.

Calling him ur dad's cousin's NEPHEW renders ur father's cousin's brother unrelated. If he was related, u'd just call him ur dad's cousin's son.

Complex as teh fuck? Basically he's unrelated unless u stuffed up the wording in the post.

  • It sounds like he is diasantly related the only thing youll have to worry is if you want to have kids you will have to be tested for compatibility

I know you posted this comment over a year ago, but that was hilarious. I'm from West Virginia, so I should probably be insulted, but it was much too funny.
