Sure, especially if it's something you've felt involved in. I couldn't help it after Requiem for a Dream because it's so desperate and bleak and hopeless. There isn't a shred of anything left to hang onto. Same with Breaking The Waves but for different reasons. 99% of it is unremittingly harsh, abject and degrading but the final scene gives such an unexpected note of hope in an otherwise hopeless world, that it's impossible not to be moved.

I'm aware that the most popular films are ones that just kill time (for those who like it better dead). People, especially men, don't like to be made to feel something. It's a shame.

I cry during movies too. I'm 38 and E.T. STILL makes me cry. Another one is the scene in The Outsiders where Ponyboy is reading Johnny's letter, man that never fails to get the tears going.

Funny u should ask that. I've always felt I'm not normal because I don't cry when others are. There are only a few movies that have ever made me misty eyed. Actually one was toy story 3! Not making that one up. My eyes geared up twice! So did my 16 yo bros. Lol!

Also, ironic that someone should mention twin peaks. I hadn't heard of that show until Psych did a tribute and then I started seeing it everywhere. I watched a few eps and it's pretty good.

Since I've gotten older and finally figured out a lot of life, I rarely go to a movie where I don't get teary about some aspect of it.

  • It's normal. I never cry during movies, but I did a couple times while watching Twin Peaks.

  • I'm a straight girl, married to a lovely man.

    I never cry during movies.
I feel sad sometimes, but not enough to move me to tears.

  • Some movies are very touching and it's normal to be moved by them.
