Is it normal to cry over music? not the first to ask, i know :p

What should I say? Well, I'm a 22 year old guy, I'm very lively and I'm not at all an emo kind of guy. I don't even like poetry, I don't know how to play instruments, I don't have much of education (all I have is high school education)...

The important thing:
I cried over "when the children cry" last year and from then on I've cried many times listening to various kind of songs and for very different reasons. Before creating this post I started to listen an artist I've never heard before in my life: Taylor Swift. Eventhough it's the first time I've heard her songs they've pulled a couple of tears from my eyes.

Is it normal for someone like me to cry over songs?

Yeah, completely normal. The My Chemical Romance song "Scarecrow" is the only song on Earth that can make me cry. I bawl like a baby every time!

It's about a nuclear war and it is beautiful. Believe me, I don't cry for just anything. I'm just not a crier. This song, however makes me tear up so badly. It helps the tears out of your eyes to read the lyrics as well.

My Chemical Romance are always beautiful. This one, I have not yet heard, although it pops up in my recommended on youtube a lot. Now, I will have to listen to it.

Yes, it's normal, especially for new songs. Danny Boy makes me cry every bloody time I hear it, so does Hero of War by Rise Against.

Though last time I heard a song that made me cry my bf looked at me like I was crazy... Soo it's normal but not everyone I suppose.. XD

I've been known to. Music is meant to make people feel things: whether it wants to make you cry, or smile, or be inspired, or feel empowered, or get angry or just think. If it makes you feel something then it's good music :)

I think this is sort of common. I get this as well with certain songs. Be it because of lyrics, the voice ,beautiful guitar, the feeling sometimes its just the moody instrumentals. Depressing or sad sounding piano always gets me and I think thats a bit strange because I'm a full fledged metal head. But yeah I think some songs just speak to you and u can relate to it. It strikes something inside that you can't ignore. In short you're a real music lover and you really "listen" to your music and you are normal for being emotionally moved by music.

I cry to the stupidest music... it doesn't even have to be sad. Music = life.

also my friend told me he heard that there is a song that made people die before. He couldn't remember what it was called or who it was by when he told me about it, he just remembered it was Japanese.

The first song that made me cry was "Forever" by Papa Roach. And "Reverse the Curse" by Escape the fate was the second song that made me cry. Also "The Mortician's Daughter" by Black Veil Brides makes me cry sometimes and was the third song that made me cry. Other than that, not many songs make me cry. I'm gonna listen to all these songs now.

It's healthy to cry. It flushes a hormone that makes you stressed when you are stressed. If it wasn't for crying, that hormone would build up until you died or went insane. This explains it better:

It's Cracked, but it's accurate facts shown through comedy.

I never get emotional over the lyrics, but sometimes do from the soundtrack.
I feel like I may tear up a bit if I listen to something that resembles perfection to me.
I guess I appreciate the artistic value more than the message.

*Taylor Swift has a few good songs, but they're nowhere near a level that can influence me.
*I just googled "when the children cry" - It's not that good either.
