Is it normal to cry over johnny cash's version of 'hurt'

I have a long commute home daily, so this pertains to listening to the song while alone in the car. Or just alone, not a group setting; because I could withhold my emotion around others.

I can listen to Nine Inch Nail's version of 'Hurt' and be fine. But, as soon as I listen to Johnny Cash's version of the song 'Hurt', I find myself crying.

If you've not heard the Johnny Cash version, or either version for that matter, go Youtube or download it! Tell me what you think.

Is it normal to cry over Johnny Cash's version of 'Hurt'?

Well, he did put a lot of soul into that song. If it made at least one person cry, then he did his job.

Yeah, it's normal. Not only did he sing it with so much feeling, if you know what he was going through when he recorded it (illness, recent loss of his wife) it's definitely enough to make someone cry.

I also cried when I first heard it. I was surprised too because the only song I've heard of his was Ring of Fire.

  • That's nothing, I once cried over Cyndi Lauper's Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. I was drunk and somewhat depressed though.
