Is it normal to cry during a movie ?

I took my girlfriend to see Finding Dory last week it was cute and funny. But she started crying right in the middle of it. It's the second movie I've seen her cry at. She said she hardly ever cried at movies. She cried during Miracles From Heaven she already saw it but we rented it about a month ago. It was kind of sad even for me. I didn't think Dory was that sad. It was really funny I laughed almost through all of it. I don't know why she found it sad. Is it normal to cry during a movie ? How can I help her feel better ?

Don't worry it's normal. And she's not feeling bad. I cry during movies all the time. Movies are made to move you and it's amazing when they do. Sometimes they're sad, sometimes they're sentimental and sometimes they're so happy and hopeful they can make you cry too. It doesen't mean she's not enjoying the movie - On the contrary! She's feeling it.

I really hope you have a movie or song that moves you to tears aswell. And if you do, I'm sure you'll want to see or listen to it again.

Yeah it's normal to cry during a movie. Simple comforting gestures generally work. Since most G-rated movies will make sure to end on a happy note you shouldn't *need* to do anything after the movie. If she's still upset after the end of it, talk about it and work from there onwards.

It is normal. I cried during a few movies too. That means that she invested herself into the movie way too much, which isn't bad. Maybe she sympathised with some of the characters.

Well there is no need to help her, she is not crying and being really, really sad or anything.

Yes it is. If a movie makes you cry, then it is a good movie, IMO.

yup, it's normal, I cry at movies all the time! it'd be a pretty sweet gesture if you brought one of those little tissue pouches that you can find at the dollar store or something and offered her one when she starts crying. also, the top commenter made a really good point about talking to her/letting her talk about movies that cause this reaction, especially if they don't end on an up-note. sometimes it just helps to get all the feelings out. :)
