My stepfather was an alcoholic, and when he got drunk, he'd cry and made life miserable for us. I think you need to go AAA and talk about what's bothering you before this gets out of hand.

Nothing in this posts indicates alcoholic behavior, they didn't even say how often they do this.

I don't drink alone because of this happening a few times. Alcohol is a depressant after all, and drinking alone would tend to make one introsepctive, sometimes certain kinds of alcohol or just drinking in general make people sad. It comes down to how the individual reacts to the chemical.

Not trying to diss your experiences or anything, just saying that there's a difference between being a sad drunk and an alcoholic, and drinking alone is a really good way to bring out the sad drunk.

  • I don't know how much you drink or how often and I am not saying that your an alcoholic, but everything about this post screams alcoholism. The fact that you cry while drunk indicates that you probably don't really even like drinking much anymore but just do it to "get a fix" and the fact that you tend to drink alone sounds even more alcoholic-esque. If you find that you need to drink as opposed to wanting to drink, that's when its time to start cutting back/stopping drinking. Drinking alone doesn't sound particularly too bad, I do that sometimes. Its the crying part that's a bit concerning

Listen to DADNSCAL, this sounds like an issue of alcoholism to me. You shouldn't be drinking alone on a regular basis, especially. I'm not much of a drinker but even my more seasoned drinking buddies will tell you that drinking alone is always a bad sign.

I've always considered booze to be an emotional amplifier. From my experience, it's just better to drink socially.

When you're a teenager and you do this once or twice because you've discovered alcohol, it's goofy. But when you're in your 20s, 30s, 40s and beyond, just don't.

I have a friend who has the same reaction to alcohol. Last time she drank she got really sad and kinda suicidal. If you're anything like her, I'd put the bottle away.
