Is it normal to consume very less water?

I'm an adult, but since childhood, I only drink water when I feel the need or feel thirsty. But I'm constantly asked by parents, and the doctor's common advice to drink more water. When I drink more water(recommended qty.), I catch cold and running nose, and even urinate frequently, which I don't like. Sometimes I almost don't remember when I had water last time, and sometimes I have only a glass after each of breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Is this normal?
P.S: My bodily functions are normal and didn't observe any problem yet.

    More water = more urination?

    I am shocked.

Why are you shocked? That concept is common for all :-)

It seems counter intuitive, but if you drink MORE water (regularly) you will start urinating less because your body won't have so many irritants and toxins to flush out all the time.

8 cups of water a day is recommended, but there is evidence supporting the fact that your body really doesn't need that much. Everyone is different really.

I love to urinate a lot.

    Yeah me too.
Water is tasteless. I don't see the point when I could rather have something that tastes nice. Coffee, soft drinks, and juice are all more than 90% water anyway.

I drink lots of fluids throughout the day. Mainly coffee, water and carrot juice. Yummmmm

Thirst is the biggest indicator that the body needs hydration, but years back this campaign started by doctors to encourage more water consumption. Even though when the frequent water drinkers sometimes forget drinking, it will be okay for the body.

Maybe you should start boiling the water that you drink; there could be contaminates in it, even if it's supposed to be 'safe to drink' or something...

It seems like a lot of people don't drink a lot of water. You can apparently get all of your daily water requirements through foods and other drinks though, and drinking actual water isn't required (personal experience during hospital stay - wasn't supposed to have water for about 2 weeks). So I wouldn't worry too much.

Apparently 80% of the recommended 2 litres of water a day, comes from our food and if you have no digestion problems (such as constipation) then you are getting enough liquid in your diet. We tend to supplement our liquid with separate drinks of tea, or juices, etc but we don't all really need to drink 2 litres of actual water - although it is good to help us digest our food and transporting the nutrients around our bodies.

I never drink water and am rarely thirsty but my sister says the first physical sign that you aren't drinking enough is when you have dry lips.

    You sound fine to me.

I don't drink much during the day, but I've been trying to increase my liquid intake.
    A typical day:
2 cups of decaf coffee with milk
    1-2 cups of juice
    1-2 organic sodas

    .....
That's pretty much it, but on occasion I'll have a tall can of organic iced tea:)
I'm looking at the list and It doesn't look like much, but at least I'm drinking something.
I don't drink water unless it's flavoured and sometimes I completely forget about drinking.
