    As the ancient Sumerians said, we die, and we go into the dirt and rot away. Bleak outlook they had there, but I think they got it right in the first place!

    Have you heard of Pascal’s Wager?
    In a slightly modified form:

    If there is no heaven or hell, it doesn't matter what you believe. We cease to exist and our bodies rot in the grave.
    If there is a heaven and hell, and you don't put your faith in Jesus you spend eternity in hell.
    If there is a heaven and hell, and you do put your faith in Jesus you spend eternity in heaven.

    That risk of eternity in hell makes it worthwhile to figure out whether God is there and offers forgiveness in Jesus or not.

    I don't believe in God, but I do believe in reincarnation. Seems more logic to me. I recently surpassed a period in my life where I constantly, all day long, feared death.
    Glad I'm over that, although thinking about your conciousness fading still creeps the hell out ofme.

      exactly. I don't fear death as much as I fear not being able to see, hear, feel, or think anymore.

      As am I, but an atheist is not a realist. I sometimes think that those who want to live again will, through the eyes and body of someone else, but only without control over how they are animated.
