Is it normal to constantly question the meaning of words?

I have this insane intrusive thought where I will constantly question the definitions of words, why are they spelled that way? Why does this certain word mean this certain thing? It's not that I don't understand the definition, it's that I keep questioning it, and questioning it, repeatedly.

I do this all the time. Like I find it weird how words came to be and why they are spelled the way they are... You're not alone.

Yes it's normal. It's called word etymology, which also fascinates me.

In English, some words have actually acquired definitions, or contexts, that are actually opposites of what their original meaning was.
