Is it normal to completely despise trends?

So, recently I've noticed that a lot of the things that I like are "trendy," so to speak. For example, tea (this one mainly applies in the US.) Tea, I've been drinking it since I was a kid, I grew up with it, before it was trendy to inform facebook or tweet that a nice cup of green tea is the thing that calms you down. It doesn't bother me so much that people drink tea, that's fine with me-- more people should know how delicious it is-- but my point is, is that tea seems to be becoming a trend. It used to seem like tea was just something that people used to drink, but now I feel like it's society's trendy drink. I don't know, it just seems like everyone drinks tea now, and it's slightly annoying. And the same thing with weed or those feathers that people wear in their hair. Everybody smokes weed now because all of the "cool kids" are doing, which is a dumb reason to do anything. Again, it's just another trend. And the feathers, those are worn by so many girls, young and old, and even some guys. I'm not saying that these things shouldn't go unnoticed, but once something turns into a "trend" I feel like it almost loses meaning and I feel like, "what's the point of liking something is EVERYBODY likes it." I don't know, maybe I'm overreacting or maybe it's just me. So, I guess my question is, is it normal to completely despise trends?

I'm down with society, trends are our friends. 8

Trends? What the hell is a trend? 9
You can't hate trends when you're the one to set them. 8

The thing I don't like about trends is that most of the people wearing the thing don't even like it, they're doing it to fit in. I don't see why people can't just wear what they like.

On the other hand though, a lot of these people genuinely like the trend and would be doing it regardless, so it seems unfair that other people call them unoriginal despite the fact they actually like it.

Americans are all drinking tea? You're all missing being British aren't you? Next you'll be carrying around umbrellas all the time and screaming "tally ho!!" at each other. ;)

I don't give enough of a fuck to choose a position. Trends are trends, whatever - I just do what *I* want.

I don't pay enough attention to what kids these days are doing. I don't let what other people do in their own time bother me, though, I do understand where it is your coming from.

I heard it was trendy to be a hipster.

Smoking weed is not a new trend.
Maybe your city is several decades retarded.

      I agree. ^

Also, trends go in and out of style, so wait a little bit, and tea will go back to being at the same level of popularity that it was before. No one likes feathers in their hair, that's just someone that's trying to make money off of the idiots in society. It's always wise to watch them because if something's really popular that often means it's really good.

My hipster radar is going off..
Well anyway don't pay attention to things like that - do what YOU want to do. What I hate is when you have an item - lets say a hat- and your friends hate it and make fun of you for wearing it but as soon as everyone else is wearing it, the same idiots that were messing with you are wearing it too.

Tea is delicious. I admit I love drinking tea. But I wouldn't say it's trendy. Maybe there's just really good marketing from Teavana that makes it popular. I understand tea is popular but it's not just gaining popularity from the young hip folk but people of all ages and all places around US.

Weed has been around since prohibition. And I've seen plenty of potheads over the age of 40.

The feathers in the hair and the Navajo based fashion is extremely racist. I hate it too. But people are too ignorant for knowing that it's racist so I'll just hate them for being ignorant.

Weed is nothing new, and I thought Starbucks was the 'trendy' place. I have never heard of tea being trendy. Feathers come and go in popularity, but I personally have never liked them.

Leggings as trousers, UGG boots, odd buns atop girls heads - I honestly get very vocal about the subject of trends. Leggings are not trousers. Seriously.
