Is it normal to check your surroundings?

Since i was little i loved scary movies idk why it was just something i did. I love the thought of holding your girlfriend in ur arms. But now i am scared of everything. When i take showers i have to look out of the curtain every second to see if someone is there. Also before i go to bed i check my whole room lock it barricade the door and always have some sort of weapon with me. Also if im walking by myself i have 911 ready incase something happens. What should i do? How do i stop it?

I'm the opposite, I have a fantasy that i open the shower curtain and there is someone there... naked ;)

its a phobia, cut down on the horror movies and remember what happens in those movies is fake and highly unlikely to happen in real life.

I have to check the shower every ten seconds whilst I'm in it.. I have no idea why because I hate horror films and have never watched any... But I get what you mean.. I have stay in the family room if I'm home alone and turn on the television and have nearly every single light on.

Erm.. don't get that paranoid! :) Nothing is real!!
Horror films just mess up with your head. Block it out. Convince your self that no one is in the house.
When i saw paranormal activity i got really paranoid for a week. But then i was like scared to go to the bathroom when it was dark, or to look at the door at night, i was talking loudly to myself saying "there is no one there" or sth like this and then looked. It sounds childish, but it kinda helped :)
