Is it normal to change basic tastes as you get older?

I'm 37 and have recently realized that my tastes in certain things have, for the first time in my life, changed. For example, I've always slept on my stomach and hated sleeping on my side, but as of the last few months, I'm only comfortable on my side. Or, when it comes to what I like to eat, I used to love sweets and drink cocktails, but now I prefer salty foods and wine--I hate sweets and mixed drinks now! I know this sounds insignificant but I'm beginning to wonder what's going on with me and when/what else will change. Is this normal?

I cringe when I think about what I used to like. Take my husband for instance .

Imagine how boring life would be if our tastes never changed?

I find myself much more tolerant to new things that I was... I guess this is normal.

  • I have heard that personal preferences change every eight years with your body. It's also very common to develop new allergies in your life time because of these changes your body goes through. Don't worry, this sort of thing happens to everybody :)
