Is it normal to care more about a bestfriend then a family member?

I've always been taught that family comes first, but I have this feeling of caring more about my bestfriend then most of my family. I'm sure alot of us have been asked the, " Who would you rather save from falling off a Cliff? " kind of questions involving the people you love, and if I was asked the same thing, I would choose my bestfriend over most of my family members. Is it right/wrong for me to care more about someone who isn't my own blood-relative then my own family, and is it normal?

Totally normal, my friends are important to me, and frankly, my family is on the lowest spot on the
"list of things in order of how much I give a damn about them". I would totally help a friend over...those...things...... But seriously, I agree. ^_^

Yeah that family over the rest of the world bullshit is good if you were one of the Cosby kids or on 7th Heaven. I save some oft friends over a few family members any day. Hell I'd save a stranger over my dad any day. Keep loving your friends
