Is it normal to calculate possible relationships like this?
When I spot a girl I like the look of (i.e. reasonably pretty, doesn't hang out with other boys, seems mature), my mind automatically runs our hypothetical relationship through a series of synthetic tests. There are more than these, but some recurring ones are presenting her to my parents, meeting her parents, getting married, moving into our first home together, arguing (or rather coping with disagreements), raising a child, and getting old together. I can do this in the blink of an eye, and it helps me to assess whether my initial interest in the girl is worth pursuing. Also, I don't fantasize sexually about her, since doing so would feel dirty and disrespectful.
Does this 'benchmarking' system seem weird, and can anyone relate to it?
