Is it normal to buy someone a calendar for their april birthday?!

It's April and it was my Birthday a few days ago. I don't want to come across as ungrateful here - I'm definitely not an ungrateful person. As a gift, a relative bought me a calendar. As in a calendar that started at the beginning of the year and so the first three and a bit months are redundant. Also, I already have one and I think the person who got it knows this. So what do you all think? Is it a joke? Have they lost the plot? Is it a 'that'll do' kind of present and... IIN?! Clearly, I don't think it is but would be interested to hear some other views!

Aww, that would make me laugh. Although, my birthday's in November, so it would be funnier. There are a lot of months left in this year, so you can still get plenty of use out of it.:)

    Possibilities:

-they're broke or really cheap, they bought it on clearance

    -it's a regift

-they legitimately thought you'd like the pictures in it and/or get use out of it

-they don't like you that much or you're not very close with them

    -they're old and senile

-they forgot about your birthday and picked it up at a gas station on the way over

Do you expect more than this from them?

I've bought clearance calendars for the pictures alone (I framed some of the pics), so if it's a subject matter that they think you really like then it's entirely possible they DID put thought into the gift but perhaps they couldn't afford to spend a lot.

You know them, so what makes sense here?
