Is it normal to buy a kid toy for yourself despite being an adult?

I'm not really sure why, but whenever I see something from my childhood, I can't help but look at it in awe and wanting to buy it, but I'll quickly change my mind due to the fact that I would hear "you're too old to buy that toy" and "it's for little kids". But I'm sure that there are other people out there wanting to experience their "2nd childhood" despite being an adult. What if their "1st childhood" was tragic and they want a happy one? You know, like a "reset button" for their childhood.
Is it normal to feel that way?

  • I buy hot wheels cars sometimes but tell people that I'm doing it for the future collectors value when I just really think they're cool.

Completely. It’s a common thing that adults that come from abusive homes as children often want to relive the childhood they never really got to have. They enjoy playing with their old toys and watching children’s movie and eating junk food, that kind of stuff. It’s completely normal, but I’m sorry that your home was so shitty

Being able to buy your own toys is what being a grown up is all about.

I have an extensive lego collection along with some missto models and big farm tractor and truck...

My mom says the ssme thing "you're too old" or "they're for little children"...I line collecting toys don't see nothing wrong but people in this day and age society...will lable you many things...carry on and don't pay attention to what makes you happy.

Almost forgot to mention many gaming consouls...

That sounds normal, if you love to buy things that were part of your childhood go for it, no one is gonna tell you that you're too old for stuff. This also sounds to me that you are somewhat into things that you enjoy. I too buy toys sometimes, hell I still somewhat buy Hot wheels stuff. You might be old but the fuel of childhood may never go out even if you need to refuel it.

Like what kind of toy? Knickknacks or something you would give a 10 year old on christmas?

Your buying it so it doesnt actually matter but I would say knickknack toys or just small attention toys are more socially acceptable toys to have.
