Is it normal to buy a ferrari instead of get married?

I am 24 female. I have a formal job/career and make decent money. I also own an internet business and have for the last 8 years. I do small modeling jobs on the side, mostly niche market like import tuner, superstreet, etc. I have been saving money and am $15,000 away from buying my dream car; a Ferrari 360 Modena. I will have the money by March 2011.

My boyfriend supports me in this and thinks I should go for it if that is what I want. It is afterall my money. But we are not married and people think I should spend this money on our wedding or buying a house or having a baby. I am not interested in those things. I would rather us just get a marriage license and no wedding, am not positive where I want to 'settle down at' with regards to a house, and don't want to think about kids for another 6 years.

Is it normal?

By statistics a car will last much longer than a possible marriage. Also maintanance is cheaper.

^wow your grumpy. I don't think she's got that 'look at me and my fancy car' attitude. She's been saving for a while and still doesn't have the money yet. It would be a little different if she inherited the money or got it in some other way besides working hard to earn it. Isn't that what people are supposed to do in life? Have a dream and then work hard to achieve it?? Sheesh.

you are my hero. i have to know did you buy it? i myself have the same problem. i am 24 and save up masses of money only to spend it on motorcycles. i have been told to save it and get a house or just save it period. instead i just buy motorcycles. i have been married and divorced, this is why i like motorcycles better. they don't cause as many problems, need less maintanence and in the long run cost less. i will save almost an entire years pay just to spend it in one day on a beautiful motorcycle. i have 12 now and do not regret any of them..
