Is it normal to brush your teeth for longer than 8 mins

I brush my teeth for at least 8 minutes every time twice a day. I even brush for longer if I use my electric tooth brush. I floss most times as well

I've heard that is bad for your teeth especially with an electric. It's great that you have good dental hygiene but it is possible to damage the enamel with too much brushing. Also I think gum recession could be an issue long term as well.

Probably better to go down to two minutes twice a day.

I use the Sonicare electric toothbrush and go for about three minutes on average. Also I love those Den Tek dental floss picks and Plax mouth rinse. Good oral hygiene is important!

Oh and I almost forgot that fluoride Listerine rinse. Hell yeah...fight the germs that cause Gingivitis!

I always go with cheap mouthwash - has the same ingredients but at half the price or less! Attack the germs, not your bank balance! *cheesy grin*

I got a generic version of the Listerine at Target but I couldn't find one of the Plax. I love oral hygiene!

It is nice to know that you take good care of your teeth, but with an electric for 8 min. is going to wear off your enimal, and that is very painful. You should probably talk to your dentist.

  • I love people who are so proud of their hygiene that they even make posts about it on the internet. I like to brush my teeth everyday too, but I'm not going to shoulder up to someone and say "hey, guess what I do everyday. I brush my teeth!" like I'm expecting some sort of pat on the back hahahahaha.

Secondly, that's bad as fuck for your teeth as you will ruin the enamel quicker, but you should know that anyway.

    Derrrp.

That's not healthy. Do your gums bleed? Prolonged vibrations can cause bone to grow which can be problematic. This can also be bad for the enamel Why do you do this? Does your dentist know about this? If so, what does he/she think?

LOL you're putting all this effort to keep your teeth clean without realizing they're all going to fall out soon if you don't cut down the brushing. Either lower is by like 3/4 or don't brush daily.

They say you only need to spend one minute for each half of your mouth. But I find that 1.5 minutes each works best. I can't even imagine brushing my teeth for 8 minutes.
