Is it normal to break up with someone you love and they love you back?

I recently broke up with my partner after 13 years, and being engaged for 7.

My reasons were:
His constant lies/doing things behind my back "in order to avoid conflict"
His lack of interest in me
His lack if interest in our future/ planning for the future
His obsession with cars, and spending way more time with cars than with me
His financial irresponsibility and spending too much money on cars

I am confident that there isn't anyone else in his life, but I felt as if he was cheating on me with his cars, if that makes sense.

We both still love each other.

Is it normal that I saw the reasons above as significant to end a 13year relationship?

There are sometimes irreconcilable differences that make a relationship impossible even if you still love the other person. It is normal.

  • It doesn't matter what the reasons were ...if they bothered you enough, then you were right to end it.

That's really sad. I'm sorry it didn't work.

I'm surprise you wasted 13 years of your life with this person. Technically an engagement should not last longer than a year. I'm glad however, that you're getting on with your life and I wish you all the best!

A long lasting relationship needs more than love, think about it
    1. Love, check
    2. Stability, Not Check
    3. Hard working, Not Check, so on so forth,
    get the picture?
Maybe you won't ever find someone that you love as much as this person, but you'll feel a whole lot more fulfilled about stuff that really matters.

How do you even know he loves you if he isn't interested in you? If he says he loves you but doesn't act interested in you, he might not even really know what love means.

He loves me, but loves his cars and spending money more :(
He took me for granted and thought I would wait and be by his side no matter what :(

Sounds like a good enough reason not to be with someone.
