Is it normal to both like and hate losing weight?

Im a male that wasnt fat, but still overweight. I have been losing weight since my ex left. I like the fact that Im losing weight, but also hate it because all my shirts and pants are now becoming too big for me. Even the shorts that I bought a month ago, that fit perfectly then, are now around two sizes too big

Ive gone from size 40 to around a size 34 in the last 8 months. Even with the size 40 it was mainly due to having room in the legs and crotch for comfort, but now I absolutely have to wear a belt with all my pants and shorts.

Many of my shirts are far too big for me now too. Ive always had a broad chest and big shoulders. So I use to have to wear a 2xl or 3xl for comfort. Now xl is the comfortable size and I can easily wear a large now.

So yeah, is it normal to both hate and like losing weight?

Having to buy a whole new wardrobe can certainly be a downside whereas better health, feeling more attractive and higher self esteem are the clear upside. I can also speak from experience that losing and gaining weight as a result of depression over a breakup is no picnic either.

    • At first it was due to depression, now Im just eating more healthy foods. Not even really working out anymore, just eating right and losing weight. Although I have been a little apprehensive about something as of late, so it has caused a little stress, but that stress is pretty much gone now, and was I was only stressing a little for the past month. All seems good now and Im still losing weight and eating right. I want to start working out again, but if Im already losing weight, then I might really start to lose even more, and that would suck wardrobe wise.

This is normal. I've lost weight after I stopped overeating and began exercising again. I no longer fit into some of my favorite items of clothing, but I can fit into clothing I shelved a few years ago.

I'm having sort of the same problem. I have been at around 130-140 for the past 2 years and I started doing more cardio and eating less fast food and I have lost down to almost 125 and I like that I look more toned now but holy shit, my jeans are requiring extra reinforcement and I feel so weird seeing myself as thin now...

If you don't want me to respond to your posts then either hide my comments or just don't post. I didn't even realize it until you said something, shit.

I don't see the problem; donate your old clothes to the Salvation Army and buy new ones that fit. What's to hate?

    • Full time student and part time work, with high rent, so very little money to buy new clothes.

Then put another way; a new wardrobe from the Salvation Army. Tit for tat.
