Is it normal to borrow shoes to wear?

I have a good colleague and we also have a nice relationship in daily life. Recently, I went to work with a new Christian Louboutian wedge bought from an online website in a low price. She praised my shoes beautiful and of course I was very happy, but she said that she wanted to borrow my shoe to wear. I hesitated because I hate to wear the shoes with others, even if they are my friends or family, let alone it is not first time that she call for this. Last week, she just borrowed my new skirt to wear in office time. That's really ridiculous, which looks like that my skirt is bought for her. I am really not willing to share my shoes and clothes with others. So I decided to refuse her request, though I have no idea how to do in order to that it won't harm our relationship between us. I'm crazy now. Do you feel it is the symbol of selfishness?Do you like to borrow shoes and clothes to others? Do you have any suggestion for me?

If you are going to let her borrow them, spray some anti-fungal and deodorizer before and after.

I think its normal that her proposition makes you uncomfortable. I hate the idea of having to share my stuff, especially clothing of all things with other people!!!!

If you feel comfortable borrowing each others clothes go for it. It's especially handy for clothes that you don't wear frequently, especially expensive stuff. But it's only good if you're both happy. Sounds like you're not getting anything out of the deal. If you like her, and it's only the inequality of the deal, ask to borrow her stuff, but if you don't want to lend out your things, you certainly don't have to. It's not a requirement of being friends. If she doesn't like you because you quit loaning her things, she probably wasn't someone you want in your life anyway.

  • She might do it for you sometime, and if she tries to refuse, bring it up

I've barrowed/loaned out some of my more formal outfits with friends. As for shoes I've thrown on my mom's if I needed to run out side and her shoes were by the door. But a coworker? Not so sure about that unless we'd gotten to be friends out side of work.
