Is it normal to bleed very lightly but not come on my period?

I started bleeding very very lightly about 3 weeks ago and then stopped after a few days. I then started bleeding a little more about a week ago and stopped a few days later. I haven't had any bleeding since. I'm not sure when I was due on my period as I've got polycystic ovaries so my periods are really irregular. I don't know what's going on :/ any comments would be great :)

    Hi, thank you for your comment :) I came on my period this morning :( as I expected I'm not pregnant, thanx for your advice x

    Assuming your period doesn't arrive: I had that once! If there's no chance you're pregnant, then it's probably just a temporary hormone imbalance. Even for women who are generally regular, they can have hormone abnormalities. I even completely missed my period once. THAT was scary. It's pretty normal for stuff like that to happen once in a while. If you are having sex, or had sex recently, you may want to take a pregnancy test. That could have been "spotting." One of the earlier signs of pregnancy. Also, taking birth control can cause spotting. Spotting commonly looks more pink than red, but can be more reddish.
