Is it normal to bleed during sex?

Okay so it's my first time on birthcontrol and me and my partner are very worried. First off my period was 8 days late( before starting birth control) the first day I got It I started taking the pill. For only 2 days I bled red like a normal period then had been spotting since. Me and my boyfriend were being intimate and halfway through it he noticed I was bleeding. At first it was brownish and not alot but then suddenly it begane red like a period all over him. We freaked out and stopped and immediatley after we cleaned up went to a walk in clinic. The doctor told us that it was normal to spot and somtimes birth control can rlly mess up your hormones causing odd flow. He tested me for pregnancy with a urine sample and it cane up negitive. I'm still increadibly worried and it's frustrating as well as embarrasing. Is this normal? To bleed heavy like a period during sex? Should I go see my family doctor to get a check up? Any help or information welcomed. Thank you

Why would you start the pill when you start your period? Usually you start the sunday after your last period...maybe that had something to do with it?

I once posted up a story about a girl who I was with who due to a hormone imbalance bleed really heavily during sex. Two of my past girlfriends have had this sort of problem aswell when changing which pill they were on. I'm not a doctor but I do know that it can take about 2-4 months for your body to adjust to the hormone changes which means that you might have spotting or heavier bleeding during this time. Stopping your body from being able to become pregnant is not a simple process and as such you should be prepared for some side effects.

  • Its definitely NOT normal to be bleeding, not to mention that heavily, during intercourse. You should probably go see the doctor and get things examined down there. If you were ending your period or possibly about to start your period, it could just be that. But I would still get it checked out.
