Is it normal to bite yourself out of frustration?

I know some people cut themselves to get relief and this is abnormal behavior, but what about someone who inflicts pain on themselves by other means such as biting or punching a wall? Should they seek help or is it considered not as serious?

    punch yourself in the dome or punch someone else its way funner that s wat i do dont punch a wall cus u mite damage punch urself in the temple or punch someone else

    it's normal but you should talk to your doctor about because it could get worse or morph into something more severe.

    It's still self-harm, it's just a different form. There are different stages of sh, from pinching, punching walls and bruising, to cutting and burning, to even breaking bones. While biting may not seem as extreme, it could worsen since it means you see pain as a way of controlling emotions. I don't know, if you think it's something you would benifit from, see a counsellor. That's never worked for me. I think a good way to stop is to become aware of your sh, notice when you're doing it, why you're doing, then it stops being an unconcious mechanism and you can learn to avoid situations that make you feel you need to do that, and if you can't avoid them try to deal with stress in another way, maybe write your feelings or tear up paper or just shout.

    I used to do the same thing! But when I was mad at myself...I stopped now though, yet I can't truely say whether it's nomal or not

    I do this also since I was a kid, biting my hand till it bleed, hiting myself in the head poking needles through my hand. It is a coping mechanism. You internalize things

    i think it's the same thing.. But there must be a reason why u want to feel pain.the problem is not that u hurt yr self with this or that way..the problem is, WHY u want it..!
