Is it normal to believe that humans can be immortal ?

When I was kid someone told me to make a wish and drink this water I wished to be immortal I know it was kind of weird and no I don't afraid of dying. Anyway somehow now I feel maybe immortality is real.if you are a religious person ( sorry for spelling :D ) you might have heard that one the prophets did drink the water of immortality. So what do you think !?

If the Many Worlds Interpretation of quantum mechanics is true, then there are an infinite number of universes in which you will never die. Of course, there are also an infinite number of universes in which you are already dead. Furthermore, there are an infinite number of universes in which you will die tomorrow night at 7pm.

Lol, don't buy into Jesus crap huh?

I was reading some of your stuff @neopythagoream
trust me I'm not trying to "convert" you but every knee will bow down and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord. Regardless if we believe or not.

I'm sure you choose "not" which is ultimately your life and choice but either you're right or I'm right, someday both of us will know who was right and who was wrong.

I pray your eyes would burst open to see the truth

You should be careful with who you accuse of being right or wrong. Sounds like judgment. And I pray that your eyes do not burst when you encounter the truth. Why would you want bursting eyeballs all over the place? I'm pretty sure Jesus wouldn't approve of that.

Every spirit has eternal life regardless of your belief in Jesus or any other man made entity. Although it is likely that a man named Jesus did walk the earth about 2000 years ago. Although I do believe the idea of Jesus saving souls. Kind of like how some soaps work better on different kinds of stains.

Immortality takes away your humanity. The whole point of being human is to live, once you take that out of the equation, you are not human.

Are you a kind spirit or a vengeful spirit?

it's scientifically possible to cease ageing (although we have not got the technology yet, some small underwater organisms, like the hydra and some jellyfish do not undergo senesence[ageing])

but at the moment we haven't harnessed this ability in genetics.

And either way, stopping ageing wouldn't stop death based on injuries or fatalities.

Maybe your spirit longs for eternal life. Which is given to anyone who puts their heart and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. I don't recall ever reading in the bible about a prophet who drank water that gives eternal life but all who drink from God's cup of life will indeed live forever. Maybe this all sounds a little "strange" but in journey of life I am sure everything will make more and more sense.

This has the potential to become an interesting philosophical debate, however, I judge no one. I believe, personally, that immortality is achievable, however it is extremely difficult to achieve, and I'm not certain it would be healthy for the world as a whole to have a bunch of immortals running around. Think about it--if you were immortal, you would watch your family and friends and everyone you care for age, and die. If several made the decision you did, overpopulation would become a problem, as more are born, and the previous generations don't fade away to the pages of history. You would live to see the world end, and at that point, if we have not colonized other planets, you too, would die. As the years passed, each would seem shorter, until friends you have made become memories in the blink of an eye. Immortality would eat away at you, until you could no longer stand to look another human in the face, for fear that they would crumble to dust before your eyes. Immortality on this plain is no blessing, it is a curse, and one which should not be taken lightly. I don't think it is possible to simply drink a sip of anything and become immortal. You must have the farsightedness to think through all of the ramifications of your decision, and then you must truly accept both the good and the bad that can come of it. Immortality loses its charms after 500 years or so. You watch history repeat itself, day after day, as years become short in your relative sight. Immortality without greater purpose will drive you mad, if not from boredom, then from depression.
I pray to the gods that one as sweetly innocent as you seem to be has not been cursed with immortality.

YES! If you know how cells work you have to wonder. The reason we die is cells make copies of themselves. It is never a perfect copy and when they start messing up you become older. So in theory if you stopped this process and could stop aging all together. Meaning you could live forever. They actually have people studying this in order to help people with rapidly aging diseases.

People cannot live forever, but the things we say and do can. Just make the most of your mortality, death is only an adventure, die doing something fun.
