Is it normal to believe births should be limited per family?

As most people in the 1st world know, the world's population of humans is well above 7 billion and still growing quickly. Of course, the Earth is large enough to have living space for us all, but what about the resources? All of us humans are exploiting all of the food on the planet and once the population gets too large, resources will run out and people will most likely begin to die. However, this is unlikely due to some of the precautions that might be taken in the near future. Take Japan for example. They are not contributing to the world's problem of overpopulation, and still are a powerful country. Now, I'm not saying we need to do something really drastic, just encourage people in civilized countries to have just one birth per family. That way the population doesn't grow so quickly and we don't end up resourceless and starved. We should lower the population by having less babies to about a billion, then keep it there and make sure it doesn't grow too large or too small. Is it normal to think births should be limited per family?

Nothing drastic...forgive me for not believing you when youve made it clear in the past that you think forced abortion and sterilisation are a good thing.

You know what's ironic? I could've written this post since the lack of no child limit really bothers me too. So Yes. I find this to be a normal belief as I believe births should be limited per family too. Sadly, due to the lack of power people like you and I have, it'll never come to pass and people will continue to overprocreate and overpopulate. Who knows? If the majority of us die from illness, starvation, war, and overcrowding/pollution, maybe they'll finally wake up and realise that none of them need to replicate their DNA more than once and the adoption of subsequent children is the better option in the severity of this case. People say it's only due to Overconsumption why we have these problems but it's really both. Realistically, we just can't support a booming 7 Billion+ population. What the majority of people don't know is that Over 100 scientists (or science academies) agree with overpopulation so it IS true and many people are just in denial of it because they wail "Human Rights" and "I Want 2 or more Babies" just because they don't care and value theirselves rather than what should be cared about: The planet and it's other inhabitants. We're not the only ones here, people.

The answer is that we are responsible people. Are you responsible? Do you have condoms in your purse to use when you go to a party and get fucked? If you don't be ASHAMED - really really ASHAMED.

I'm actually living an abstinent lifestyle by choice right now. I'm focusing and working on myself and don't care for any entanglements.

I just resent anyone who tries too hard to tell others what to do.

      • What business is it of yours to say who gets to reproduce and who doesnt. Who gives a fuck theres nothing you can do to stop 7 billion people from reproducing. All of this work your doing to stop human reproduction is futile.

My opinion is that people should not have children they don't want. You probably think that ignorant people carelessly breeding tiny illiterate monsters that disrespect everybody and live by criminal activity alone is just fine. You are entitled to your opinion - its also disgusting.

I also agree that humanity will eventually destroy itself.

          • I agree that these monsters should stop reproducing and creating tiny little monsters but I dont see how creating these posts is solving the issue. I cant imagine you changing someones mind by making these posts.

It was the pre-war generation that really started this problem. After ww2 they vastly overbred, so that my generation faces the prospect of working until we drop because the might not be enough money in the government pension pot for us to retire on,there`s just too many of us baby boomers around. Our parents generation left us a real mess to deal with! buttheads!

  • I don't think it's the first world who is causing a lot of population growth. We have access to birth control, condoms, plan B, abortions, etc., so I bet our birth rate is not too horribly large with the exception of weird people like the Duggar family. It is people in the third world who I imagine have tons of babies, starting from a young age, because they have little preventive measures.

So basically, educate people and provide them with contraception and they will tend to have lower birth rates. No need to go all crazy.

A deep and dark side of me wishes we could sterilize all of the fucking idiots out there and prevent them from breeding little stupid children. But that's just a wish that I hope never comes true.

Japan shrinking population is actually demential to their economy.

The Japanese is facing a smaller work force to sustain an increasing aging population. A Japanese worker is finding it will need to pay enough taxes to sustain a minimum of 4 pensioners.

It has been my experience that many people in my country (1st world) seem to be completely ignorant of the over population of planet earth. Then again, the educational system in my country has been lagging greatly behind those of other countries for quite a while now. There really needs to be more education on important planet threatening topics like Global Warming, Overpopulation, Food production or lack of there of, etc. This information should be made mandatory. It especially doesn't help that there are many backwards thinking people that refuse to acknowledge such things.

Us humans we need to start looking at how humanity and the planet will be effected in the long run. We need to look at other housing possibilities like, Terraforming. If we do terraform, we shouldn't be allowed to destroy that planet just as we have destroyed our planet. We should be ashamed at how our actions have been our undoing. We need to face our mistakes and maturely learn how to rectify them so that the cycle of destruction won't be allowed to replicate itself.
