Is it normal to become sleepy from ramen noodles?

It's actually happening right now; I'm about to take a nap when this is over.

Every time I delight in a bowl of ramen noodles, it never fails to put me to sleep. I could be wide awake on a beautiful sunny afternoon; a little while after diving into those noodles, I'll feel as tired as I would on a rainy night.

Now, I know people can get a tad dim on a full stomach, but this is more potent. In fact, this story is the only thing keeping me up at the moment. Err, hold on a second...

I forgot what I was going to say next. It's in here somewhere... Hmm. By now I'm starting to doze off, but I've just gone too far to cancel out now.

That being said, is it normal for ramen noodles to make me this sleepy? I'll leave that up to you. As for me, I need a little rest. Night everyone!

      It must be the sodium!

Every time, I eat some ramen I get so sleepy afterwards, that I can barely function!

Stirring the pot is causing self-hypnosis.

While my diet's not the greatest, I only eat ramen once every few days or so.

Ramen noodles have high levels of MSG, which can effect people in many ways. It gives me a horrible headache. Maybe that just puts you to sleep. :P

    What kind of ramen?

The crappy stuff you buy in a freeze dried box or the real stuff?

(yes the ramen in Japan is nothing like the instant crap stuff in the US)

He's obviously talking about the instant stuff. People usually make it a point to note that it's authentic ramen unless they live in Japan or something. He didn't.

Yes, I am talking about the instant stuff. As much as I'd like to try real ramen, I don't have much access to authentic Japanese food.

        P.S. "She" didn't point it out. ;)

  • Happens to me every time I eat thai-food or sushi

It could be the carbs or maybe it's the sodium level?

Hm, that does not seem to happen to me when I eat them, Interesting..
