Is it normal to be worried about your vagina?

I'm so pressured from all sides - society, the media, family and friends - that I should be shaving my privates until they're smoother then the backside of a dolphin.

Its to the point where I'm really insecure about it now, I've tried shaving and it was nice, it was different, but the upkeep made it completely un-worth it. The hair growing back in was itchy and painful and I got a lot of sores from the shaving (I wasn't using a rusty old weed-whacker for the record!). I simply did not want anything to do with trying it again but I'm worried this might make me a less desirable partner.

I am eighteen but I haven't had sex yet, I'm a lesbian too so I'm worried this might be a major turn off to any future partners. So much so that I'm hesitant to even attempt it with my girlfriend.

I have a very lippy vagina too so I'm really concerned about the state of my cash and prizes.

What do you guys think, is this normal?

Most girls who shave experience the same problems with ingrown hairs or razor rash so I'm guessing guys cant mind that much (or in your case girls). In my experience, waxing is better as far as less ingrowing hairs but when the hair grows back you still get a kind of stubbly rash for about 4 or 5 days where the hair breaks back through the skin. I wish society didnt want us all to look like 12 year old girls but unfortunately that seems to be the norm now. I'm personally trying to synch my hair regrowth cycle to my period but goddamn its a pain in the ass! If you have particularly sensitive skin trim it close to the skin, it's not much different anyway and less hassle.

Yes this is normal and this happens with everyone who shaves. I shaved a few times since my hair get stuck in my belt loops and it yanks. I got the same problem. You could try trimming it but not sure how much another female would mind. I personally do not mind if the females are shaved or not long as you don't have crabs or something. You could try waxing but I heard of a case on the news where a women got a Brazilian wax and had to go to the hospital afterwards. It was not very specific as to why though. I think they have hair removal cream for girls.

Try trimming it. It is fast doesn't hurt and your hairs do nit grow in. Still look freaking nice. You have good trimmers in the shop buy one who can trim it really short. Trimming is not like shaving where you cut the haires down to the skin wich may lead to grown in hairs. As a guy i like a hairless pussy trimmed shaved waxed all the same as long as there is no bush

What if you're not flexible to shave everything? :P

  • The sores are normal, it will only be an ingrown hair, nothing to be grossed out about.

Do what feels comfortable to you, personally, I trim and shave myself, I prefer to be neat.

I personally couldn't stand NOT to shave..hair creeps me out. I don't enjoy the feeling or look of hair and since hair is an odor absorber...it must die haha! Try getting a wax...it hurts less over time, no "sores" (Ew? Ingrown hairs?), and the hair grows back slower and softer over time. I'm a lesbian as well but I'm totally girly.. especially with things like that. I personally wouldn't be attracted to someone who had a hairy whisker biscuit BUT not all girls think the same. Not many want a jungle but I'm sure most wouldn't mind as long as you trimmed it and kept it pretty close to the skin.

You do whatever you're comfortable with. It's YOUR body and the hair was put there for a reason. If you choose to remove it, that's fine but it's up to you.

If you want to do something to manage it but don't like shaving, just trim it. Easier than shaving and no ingrown hairs and the like.
