Is it normal to be upset my brother is being deployed?

So my brother is in the US Army and we found out today that he is going to be deployed. I am so upset and hysterical and my family is like oh we expected this. Me and my brother have always been close. Is this normal?

I hated that attitude when I was being deployed. Being somewhat upset as in you miss me, ok. Being hysterical says to me, "You have bad judgement! I know better and you shouldn't have chose this life! You're gonna die! No, you will, otherwise I wouldn't be so fucking upset!" Yes, that's what I always really heard through the crying I love yous.

You are normal to be scared of the possibility, but there's a possibility of you being hit by an automobile, robbed, raped, cancer, etc. all the same, but do you get hysterical leaving the house? We want your consideration, but make us feel as though you KNOW we'll be back. That we didn't make the biggest mistake of our lives.

Its normal, my brother is going to join up soon, and as much as I respect him for it, I know I'm gonna hate to see him go, knowing how dangerous the military is, but he's wanted to all his life, so I say well played and good luck, it's been on the cards for as long as I remember.

    VERY well said, Millebornes.

I hope you are very proud of your brother, OP.
