Is it normal to be unable to fully quit heroin?

I have been an on and off heroin addict since 14. Is it normal that every time i try to quit, i get depressed and end up relapsing?

Heroin replaces the feel good chemicals in your brain like dopamine and serotonin..so when you get off of it your brain is not msking thee chemicals in the right amounts and so you will be depressed....the longer ypu stay on heroin the longer it takes for your brain to return to normal...sometimes it takes years...you may have to go on an anti-depressant and go to counseling for a good year or two...it does take time...

I give a moment of silence to all heroin addicts. It's a cruel, ugly road. You got to get away from that shit, there is no other way.

I know two people who were forced to quit heroin because they could find none here and they both became heavy alcohol drinker. One of them is now dead. He choked on his vomit while drunk. He was my cousin.

You have to seek some professional help to quit. Heroin is highly addictive and it's very difficult to stop only with your willpower. Some people have achieve that goal though.

    Good luck to you :)

Well, that's what an addiction is. You should see a rehab therapist, they know how to find the reason that heroin helps your depression, and they can help you find a better, safer, and healthier way to handle it.

Well statistically it is normal to not be able to quit Heroin once you are addicted to it. I think your best bet is to look at why you are getting depressed, the addiction is a symptom of a deeper problem. Also you may have to accept that changing your location may be necessary for you to continue to be sober even after you quit.
