Is it normal to be "un-nicknameable"?

Not that I WANT a nickname, but I find it a little odd that in 30+ years I've never had a nickname! Not from anybody! I can't think of anyone I know that doesn't have at least 1 nickname. My siblings have nicknames both from our parents and from their friends and coworkers. My parents have nicknames!

What is it about me that makes me un-nicknameable? Do you know anyone that doesn't have a nickname? I really want to get to the bottom of this so please help me figure it out!

Anything other than your given name counts as a nickname! For example, if you're Steven but people call you Steve, that counts.

I don't have a nickname either! 26
I have one nickname. 9
I have multiple nicknames! 44
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I have loads of nicknames. In fact, I even got a new one today:D. Although I'm not quite sure if it counts as a nickname, since it's much, much longer than my real name and has nothing to do with my name. It's just part of an inside joke. That's how I usually get them, so maybe that's why. I'm really not sure why you don't get them, though.

I love nicknames, so it's good that people always come up with them for me. I come up with them for people too. I don't know why you haven't got one. Although, I'm sure someone on this post might come up with one for you. I would, but I only do it with people I know well enough. Sorry!:S Nicknames are the best!:D

I usually prevent people from shortening my name when I meet them. The only nickname I really have is one my mom gave me as a kid, but doesn't really use anymore.

I actually prefer it when people use my real first or last name.

Once my relatives gave me a "cute" nickname, but they stopped using that because I just ignored them until they used my real name.

What is yous name? Are you tall or short? Start introducing yourself as a different name and later on let them find out your real name.

Sometimes it's better not to have one. Mine are usually insulting to the point where, when people hear me called by one of them for the first time, their jaw drops at the rudeness. I don't mind myself but I feel bad on other people's behalf.

  • Everyone has a different nickname for me. There is only one person in the world that calls me by my real name (other then my mother when I'd get into trouble, haha) and she is the only one I respond to when I hear it. Very strange.

I never had one either. People just say my first and last name really fast when refering to me.

Good question, I don’t know why people don’t take it upon themselves to alter your name. It’s hard to come up with an answer or offer suggestions without knowing your name. I knew someone who went by Nickname (his name was Nick) but based on the title of the post that could be suitable for you too.

I have a few nicknames. My name is somewhat common so to differentiate me from the others many people add little or lil’ to the beginning. And often only the first syllable is used. The nickname I’m not too happy about is the Mrs. (Surname) y-poo. Some nicknames are annoying, I feel bad for my friend who got dubbed “big pooper” and somehow it stuck.
