Is it normal to be ugly in photos but cuter in person

I hate pictures of me. Usually people take pictures at parties with a flash and stuff, that makes me look very pale and because of the shadows my nose looks gigantic (my nose is bigger than the average nose but on some pictures it really looks colossal). Meh I hate pictures.

I'm not photogenic either. I think I look cute in the mirror, but my photos always turn out to be disastrous. I posted my best pic on Hot or Not and only got a rating of 6/10. If I post my pic on the online forum I frequent, I'll only get sympathetic "you're cute"s from my lady friends. None of the guys hit on me.

I feel like I fail as a woman for not being "hot".

Photos are the opposite to what you see in the mirror - so its not worse, its just different and your not used to seeing yourself that way. A lot of artists will hold a picture they drew in front of the mirror so they can see things from a different angle and make improvements.

You are cute (as you stated) the other reply said she is 'hot', as both of you stated by other peoples point of view.

The photos are STILL showing you how pretty you are, BUT they don't feel the same because you are just still with little expression of how good you look normally. They don't capture your personality!

The concern you have will not be the same for common looking people who try SO hard to look good. You are best to do candid shots only (ie you doing something other than just standing there)

Your pictures are fine. You DON'T suddenly turn ugly or old in a digital picture, this is something you have concocted in your mind by so many people not understanding that you're beautiful in real life and STILL gorgeous in photos.

Keep taking photos of yourself, especially since you're cute, otherwise what a waste that would be.

Its better to be a persogenic than a backogenic -a person which is prettier when they don't around. (LOL)

i am sooo not photogenic which sucks because in person i've been told many times that i could model (purely catalogs or glamour shots since i'm only 5'3)but since i'm not photogenic there's no way i could pursue this dream. oh well at least you look hot in real life so people will be pleasantly surprised if they ever see your picture first and then you. it would suck if you looked hot in pictures and shocked people when you met them in person lol

My pictures are super bad, it's normal.

I'm 22 and i suck a pictures, till maybe just recently, cause of the constant compliment ppl keep giving me. but i still see mysef as not that photogenic, but maybe that will change... i just hope i dont go the other way and get a big ego. Hahah =3c

I hate how unphotogenic I am. I look nothing like most of my pictures. The lighting has to be great and I typically have to take the picture myself. I hate it so much. Girls always want to take pictures and I always step out or hide behind my hand or something. :(
