Is it normal to be treated this way

I have been in a relationship with my partner for four years.
When he drinks he is an aggressive bastard.
Like when he is drunk, I don't want to have sex with him, and he will crack the s**ts and start yelling at me and hurl abuse at me, it makes me feel like I am his personal whore.
He tells me he hates me when he is drunk, and that I am a slut. He accuses me of cheating on him with ANYONE that might pop into his head, including my stepfather.
He tells me I don't know what it is like to be hit, because slapping isn't hitting, and if I'm not careful, I will find out.
He has choked me, and said that I can't call it choking because he didn't kill me.
He is only like this when he is drunk, which is kinda often.
Is it normal for men to act this way while intoxicated? Should I just suck it up and put it down to a guy thing? Or is this dangerous and I should escape before it gets any worse??

      I agree this is some serioues domestic abuse . Call a hotline , call the police report him and leave . Yes alot of guys do this when they are drunk just proves that he truly is a asshole becuase poeple do what they are really feeling when they are drunk so I guess he really does not love you . Get out and report him NOW !ck38 is right in saying you are going to end up dead this is violent dangerous man and should not be abusing you .

    im going thro simular but have 2 babis involved and no family close by (6hr flight away) if u have no children leave right now. u do no deserve that. i no i dont deserve it either but i have nno idea what to do thats the only reason im still there, and he wouldnt wanna touch my children.
    but you should leave you can find soeone better and who treats you right even when drunk.

    this is not good. you should get out of there as soon as possible before he really hurts you... he might not kill you but he can hit u in to coma... get out of there as soon as possible

    If he loved you and even cared a little about you, he would have done something to stop drinking. That being said, if you stay with him, I'm sure you're always going to have a fear of him that he'll treat you horribly or even attack you. Either way, he obviously hasn't tried to stop so I'm telling you you're better off without someone like that in your life. There are other men in this world who never would have done this to you. Anyways if you do leave him, he will probably try to win you back or theaten you or just not care, be very careful.
