Is it normal to be too open on the internet ?

Okay so i have a blog that i write almost everything in it (My thoughts ,My feelings ,people's issues,Gossip, what bothers me ...etc ) , the thing is i'm not sure if people i know read it and know it's me , i know that there is one who knows it's me behind the blog , but i don't care about her , anyways my question is ,is it normal to keep the blog even though there is too much information in it that people may read into it and know that it's me behind it , or should i only keep topics that talk about non personal / general things ?

That's part of the beauty of the internet. Anonymity. What you do is probably extremely mild in comparison to what some do.

Blogs are as private as you want them to be. If you publicise it in places your friends or family visit, then obviously they'll get to know about it. But if you just set one up and didn't tell anyone, they're very unlikely to find out about it. The internet is bigger than a town, a city, or even a country.

I've kept a blog for eight years which is very personal at times, a bit like an open diary. It's as much for me as anyone else. But I leave it open to the internet. If you type my username into Google, the first result is my blog, the second my profile, and the third an item I wrote in late February. Sounds scary but so few people know my username because I've been careful with it. If you've done the same with your blog, I'm sure you'll be safe. Just don't mention anyone by full name and be careful with rare words that can be attributed to you (like names of places you frequent).

You have the right to remain silent. Everything you say might be used against you.

I get really personal on the internet myself. There are plenty of things that I would post on the internet that I would never feel comfortable to tell any of my friends and family. I dunno. I guesss the the whole idea that people on the internet don't know you, so there judgements don't really mean anything. However, if you are posting gossip about others and you feel someone might know it's you or that this person who does know my tell others, I'd either find a new blog site, or be a little less personal.

It's normal. Getting personal and connecting is something I wish I could do on my blog.

  • Write about personal things, just don't leave any identifying information if you're worried about it. And it is unlikely with the millions of blogs out there that they will stumble upon yours and know that it is you.

I'm very open with personal info on the internet because I don't feel like there's any point in hiding it. I am so boring and uninteresting, I doubt I'd hit anyone's radar.

It's your blog, you should do what you want to with it. Type what you want to on it. If they don't like it, screw 'em. It's not like you're holding a gun to their head forcing them to read it or something. Lol.

Yes, it is. If you don't want them to know some of the things you are writing though, you could create another blog with a different name and even make it private or something if you wanted to.
