Is it normal to be this obsessed with a cartoon character?

It started when i was at the beach. everything reminded me of this cartoon called flapjack. I hadn't even seen the show but like once or twice & that was like 3 months before that.

so i get home from the beach & i record the next showing of flapjack. so then BAM! i all of a sudden started obsessing over this cartoon character. So far i've made a 3 ft by 3 ft poster of him THAT I DREW & PAINTED MYSELF then i somehow miraculously sewn this flapjack doll together. I've got 3 shirts, & 2 buttons.

I'm scared to ask this on the message board because they may think im weird, but is it normal to be this obsessed with a cartoon character?? its just like any other crush i get.

just a window of how bad it is:: last night i had a dream we were making out in a whale. (it was actually more than that)

i dont know whats wrong with me!!

    yes... Invader Zim! I'm in LOVE with him!. HES ALL i think about. I absolutely LOVE HIM. everyone just thinks im crazy. But I NEED him!!

      OMG!!! I am madly in love with Zim!!! I get so many butterflies in my stomach when I see him (mostly in his human costume) And I dream of saving him from burning in the cold rain by sharing an umbrella and me giving him my jacket while we sit at the Skool together!!! I can't stop loving him!

      Im in love with gaz right now(and I'm a bisexual girl so..) My friends think I'm weird for obsessing over invader zim a lot to the point they play around about it. It really gets on my nerves and I have ocd so its suuuper hard to keep it all bottled up away from them.

      Heh.... Yeah... I used to be obsessed with invadeder Zim... I liked gir lol he was frickin adorable and hilarious... Then after a while I got over him and I stopped drawing him.... But then not much later I became obsessed with Stan marsh from South Park... I loved him mainly cuz of this one seen where he got drunk and he kept telling Kyle he loved him then after he would say that and Kyle would walk towards him he'd be like, " never mind fuck u Kyle" lol... But that obsession didn't last very long.... But shortly after I became OBSESSED with megamind... Lol I watched the movie like 200 times and I would draw him ALL THE TIME!!!! But after watching the movie a few more times I finally stopped obsessing.... Parts of me still really REALLY wish they would make a sequel because if they did I would feel like I could get some closure.... But right now my obsession is Mordecai from regular show.... I draw him non stop... I've had dreams about episodes they haven't even made... I watch interviews with the shows creator JG Quintel.... I look up comics on deviantart.com because I have seen ALLL the episodes several times and the next new episode isn't coming out until the end of the month... So because I can't stop obsessing so badly over this show I downloaded an app that can let u make animations.... So I'm gonna start making little animations of this show until I am done obsessing.... But honestly this is the worst I have ever obsessed over a character.... Like with Magamind I had a little crush on him and I would sometimes read fanfics about him.... But NOW I have a huge crush on Mordecai.....

    ill tell you something worse than this. i cant fall asleep with out wachin invader zim 1st, i have all the products EVER! made, hes all i think about, every dream i have involves him i loooooovvvveeee zimmmmmm and at night i have a pic of zim on my bed XD zim zim zim zim zim zim zim zim zim zim zim zim zim zim zim... o did i mention ZIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM ♥♥♥♥

    For a while I was completely obsessed over this Yu-Gi-Oh cartoon character called Yusei, and my chest would start fluttering everytime i thought about him, lol. I don't feel the same way anymore but I still <3 Yusei so much. :-)

    I can't say its normal but, as for me, I was obssessing over cartoon characters like you. my first one was number one from kids next door XD lol, you'll get over it. and then I had crush on danny phantom too. but hey, I was a kid, and I'm cured now. and I don't really know your age right now soo... XD well, now I moved on anime characters X'D

    Welcome to my world :D I've been in love with Yakko ( from Animaniacs ) since it started and now I'm 21 and i still love him to dead I had dreams like that too and to be honest I loved it ^^ Sure that I had real boyfriends but come on there just isn't someone more sexy enough for me then him I freaking love him ^^

    yeah, normal, got obsessed with Mary Test from the cartoon called "Johnny Test" always see this cartoon on a tv when I got home. I don't like to watch it, but the genius sisters are the one that is manipulating me! Susan and Mary test, mary is the one who is I am obsessed of. It's really weird since I was 16 and they're 13. Always see this cartoon when I was 14.

    haha ever since flapjack first came out i thought he was cute...not sure if the op still reads this, but you know the creator has a dA?he might actually be interested to talk with you about this...yes he actually replies to fanmail his name is thurop. and yes i like regular show and his creator is on dA too and they are friends. and about the anime thing yeah its funny i always thought anime characters where modeled after cats, because when they are happy they close thier eyes

    have you seen regular show its awesome and adventure time is addicting too im not obsessed but i like them anime is not for me though how do asians draw themselves with huge eyes when the are so tiny in real life (not trying to be racist but its true) the face expressions are dumb especially the angry face or the sad face

    Aw, don't worry hun. This happens to me a lot too. (Is currently obsessed with Isaac Clarke), and I've gotten over these. It'll go away soon. I promise, just slowly edge yourself away or tell yourself that he isn't real. That's how I got away from most of my "crushes" from cartoons or video games. Now, I need to stop loving Isaac...this will be a difficult task..

    I know how you feel...im freakin' obssesd with kid vegeta from Dragon Ball Z. but everytime i see him and bulma i get tottall heart broken! i want 2 cure my obssesion but i dnt think its possible! i really LOVE him and i still do! Im not fully cured! every time i draw i accidently draw him! LOL XD so i alredy masterd him on drawing :P i siresly still like him! Can someone please help me cure my obsession??       I feel the same way about [adult] Vegeta! In fact, I looked up this question because of my obsession. I'm a bit old, and have been watching DBZ for the last 12 years, and currently married, but I still have a crush on Vegeta! It's too fun thinking about him to "cure" my crush :)

    I can relate for fictional characters [not cartoon though]. There is this one character which relates to my psychological situation right now, whose life is strikingly similar to my own. Throw in some daddy issues from when I was young and you get someone like me who's completely obsessed and sometimes accidentally imagines the character in place of her own self. Which basically means, you're not alone. Sometimes it can arise from the character being the personality type of your subconscious ideal self, or ideal mate.

      Oh, I am similar to you Ophelia. My parents split up when I was little, I was abused and such...So I think that is why I fall in-love with cartoons as well. I guess it fills my void...plus they are just awesome xDD
      But yeah, it makes sense what you are saying. But it's like a fucking addiction.

    I'd say it's pretty normal; I went through a really weird stage similar to that, and it got really bad, but it's adjusted itself accordingly over time into a normal obsession.

    Weird. Normal, but weird. At least you don't draw hentai pictures of him with you. Don't worry about this at all. Maybe try to keep it down to a TV show and a Poster. You want to find other things to take up space in your mind. May I suggest a video game or other TV series? I like Role Playing Games(RPG), if you only play that and watch no TV or read any books then you will obsess over RPG. Play an RPG, i suggest World of Warcraft if you have $100 to spend on a year of that game. Runescape maybe? AdventureQuest is good for money tight people. Read a book. I like the Alex Rider series. Demanatta is good. Cirque Du Freake for some people. Hope i helped
