Is it normal to be surprised people find you attractive?

I believe every one of us can be attractive to some others. We may not be the classic ideal of "attractive", but we can each appeal to some, because not everyone has the same concept of attractiveness.

I know how you feel. I rarely get called "pretty" except by my mom, and I have always considered myself to be the token "ugly" member of my family (my brother and sisters look like they could be models, and even my parents are regularly hit on even though they're well into their 50s!) It also doesn't help that I am overweight. So when cute guys start flirting with me when I go out in public (especially at the pool of all places!) I am pleasantly surprised.

Yes, that's normal. I think for us men it may be a bit harder to know what is attractive about us. There are days when I feel very handsome and there are days when I feel disgusting. And both of these are usually because of little things that nobody else would ever notice.

But when someone tells you, you look good just smile and feel good about yourself for a moment.

Very normal. When someone thinks I'm attractive it genuinely shocks me. I start to question their tastes in 'attractiveness' and usually decide they just have bad tastes. -_- i don't think ill ever be good enough for myself. Haha but yeah, like i said; normal.

I was surprised that people consider me attractive when I was younger. I only really realized it in my early twenties. My fiancée was very popular for his looks in the day and people complimented the way we looked together, so I figured it meant I looked good. Also, guys kind of get this glazed over look in their eyes when they find a girl attractive, and they immediately get either nervous or cocky. And a lot of perverted old guys make uncomfortable comments. Ugh....

There are a lot of people who are unaware of their good looks.

I've always thought I looked plain/below average so when someone says I look pretty that I think they are crazy lol

Yeah strangers would tell me that I could model but I never believed them. It wasn't until my early 20's that I began to think I was average. And recently, maybe even attractive.

I'm completely unaware of my good looks.

Idk...for example i think tom cruise is hideous but i think adam sandler is the most gorgeous person ive seen....and theyre kind of in the same boat i guess so maybe its about the person they are that turns you on or off.

I'd be very surprised if anyone found me attractive.

One person could think that you are very ugly, while another could think the opposite and consider you very attractive. Everybody has different tastes in looks. **Blows large load in 3 powerful squirts**

Honestly... not really. Not because I think I'm the archtype of attractiveness (I'm pretty certain I'm not), and not because I'm told it often (I'm definitely certain I'm not) but because I know everyone has different and varied tastes and in that light it's not surprising to be told you're someone's taste.

Yeah, I find out girls like me when I'm never about to see them again. (Sigh)

Yes it is normal to think you are average when others find you very attractive. It would be weird to say that you find yourself very attractive I guess.

Has to be normal and pretty common. I don't get told I'm attractive (if at all) but for the handful of times that its happened it's kind of hard to believe. The compliment is appreciated but it's really hard to believe. I'm a guy as well so I feel like people don't think guys can have body or self esteem issues like women. Sorry, back to you, I think society just makes people feel ugly cause we don't look a certain way. I don't know if you want to take this advice, because honestly I'm in the same boat as you, learn to take a compliment.
