Is it normal to be staying home all day playing video games?

I'm starting to worry about my health and my social life because this is practically my daily habit. So I need a serious answer.

You shouldn't play for more than at most two hours per day. I've played for long periods of time before also but I felt guilty afterwards because I know games, mostly, are meaningless when you get down to it. Remember this: Fun doesn't always equal happiness... or rather, satisfaction with life. I suggest aiming your focus towards outdoor activities

Playing vidya is good. But making it your life, or reason to continue to the next day, is kind of a stretch. Yes games are not only for the fun, you actually learn a lot, you get to enjoy great stories, music and beautiful graphic art. In the long run is like reading books.

Be social on video games. Summer holiday at the moment for me and I haven't seen my friends for about 2 months but I talk to them and play video games with them all the time.

Not really. It's good for rainy days and of you cant find ABSOLUTELY nothing else to do. I used to play non stop and all night. Even during school nights. I got a headset, tv/gaming set up in my room, and recorded my gameplay and uploaded it to YouTube! That winter I got a snowboard (already knew how to board but didn't go a lot because I did not have one. Went riding a ton and the gaming wore off. This summer I sold my small dirt bike and got a race quad. I love riding it and I only come inside from the heat to cool down. But, maybe it's because of where I live. Maine is the great outdoors so can't beat that. Thats what did it for me tho. Snowboarding and riding it did it for me. Don't get me wrong tho, this shit can get you killed!!! The adrenaline rush is completely worth it and the money for selling your gaming stuff is rewarding haha!

It is normal to do to an extent... if you do it every day and practically never leave the house, then it isn't normal.

I play of fair bit of CoD on my PS3. I've not been playing for long, but that game is addictive as fawk, even if you are rubbish at it. FIFA 12 will take over when it comes out. Serious, its normal.

I do this whenever I can which is rare these days. It accomplishes little. Theres fuck all I can buy in real life with PS3 trophies though.

No it's not normal. You really need to get out there and get a real life - so as to have some memories in your old age and to be a worthwhile member of society. These games truly are designed to be addictive and so many illnesses are returning to our society because of them. I'm sure you are aware of blood clots from not moving and repetitive stress injuries on your thumbs. However, it's said that 40% of Americans now have vitamin D deficiency and we are seeing a return of rickets. Don't forget that while your sitting vegetating you are not eating properly either.

I think that the next generation of entrepreneurs / wealthy people will be those teenagers who actually go outside. They will generate income from mowing lawns, cleaning windows, etc etc and there will be a new class of underlings who cannot and will not be able to work.

Where are your parents? My teenage son woke one morning to find parental control had been put on the xbox. The first step is to stop playing online, then apparently it gets boring, then stop completely. Help your family with some chores and learn how to work, you can't play all your life and you won't be a great husband or father.
