Is it normal to be soo worried that i couldn't sleep at night at all?

I'm a college student, and i've had this really irritating problem ever since high school. i never had any sleep problems when i was a kid, but when i got older and start seeing things in a more serious way, i start having sleepless nights/ insomnia, most usually prior to important events (e.g. starting of school, major exams, activities). i know this sounded really ridiculous, and i've been searching for ways to end this (to no avail so far). am i the only one out there who's this insanely sensitive? people told me to relax and not to think too much, but dont they know it's impossible to tell your brain to not think of something? i really admire people who could sleep like a pig whole day and not even bothered by the freakin alarm clock buzz.

I was the same way until I bought myself a bunk bed. I made a fort out of it by covering it with sheets. I call it my fortress of sleep.

  • Try meditation. Jeff Bridges does it and I have to say it's one of the best ways to clear your mind of any stress.

As the Emperor said: "Throw off your cares with your clothes when you go to sleep"

That's what I was thinking too.

      Meditation.

Another thing to try is making a "to do list" of what's bothering you.

Before meditation or sleep, write down a HONEST list of what is troubling you. Then put the contents out of your mind, or try to at least. The list will still be there when you wake up, so you are no longer obliged to keep it in your head.

Sounds like your a real anxious person an could benefit from learning meditation an relaxation techniques. Try reminding yourself that stressing about things will not change any thing!

My best friend is going through this. She is trying to start up a company. She finally got her patent. But, without investors she's having a terrible time. She's about to loose her home also. Can't get a job. I wish I could help her but I'm trying to keep my head above water also. She is literally making herself sick from lack of sleep. It is hard trying to turn off your brain when you need sleep. Try benadryl (?). Sometimes I use that.

I have the same problem. I think too much and pull too many all nighters. Its a very bad problem for me. Generally, once I am off from school I start to recover.
