Is it normal to be so stressed out that you feel sick to your stomach?

So my teacher assigned us a 12 page essay, 3 reading assignments, an article review essay, and reading test due next week! On top of that, I have work this weekend so I am super stressed out. My mom is also mad that I won't be going to volunteer for the needy this saturday because of all this work.....is it normal to feel so stressed out that i feel like i am going to die?!!!!!! whether its normal or not, what are some good destress techniques because i honestly cant stop hyperventilating!!!!

  • Do the little things first and get them out of the way. My finals week is next week and I should probably be preparing my assignments as well, rather than be on here haha.

Skip volunteering. That can wait, and it's bad of your mom to be angry at you when you are very stressed already...Then start knocking off things one by one! I feel better when I have a list of things I have to do so I can physically see what I must do, which helps me manage my time wisely.

Think of how much time you have and begin divvying out chunks dedicated to homework. Also, eat healthy, drink water, and don't skimp on sleep for the sake of the work. You will get more done and feel better when you feel good and are energized. Just relax and get organized.

Figure out what due first and complete those, then work on everything else one page at a time. Instead of looking at this monumental mountain that you somehow have to climb, pick a small peak at a much lower altitude and find out how you're going to get there. Continue to find and climb to small peaks and before you know it you'll be at the top of the mountain!

Also, many students don't read all the reading that is assigned. It's nearly impossible considering all of the other classes and commitments you have outside of that one class. So I suggest practicing skimming and getting the jist of the reading. I've written book reports on books that I've only read two chapters out of, but it was enough!
