Is it normal to be so scared of spontaneous combustion?

Ever since i have read and watched videos about this phenomenon, where ones body explodes in to flames from inside the body for no explained reason, at any time place or location, it has really scared me. the very thought of it chills me to the bone. often i carry water with me to put myself out if i were to combust, and i get scared if i smell toast (an alledged fore-symptom of spontaneous human combustion).

You should realize that you probably have a greater chance of being killed by a meteorite than of spontaneously combusting. You shouldn't worry about it.

life is too short to worry about spontaneous combustion. Just drink lots of water in the event it does happen at least you will have lots of pee and ninjas wont touch you.

doesn't it only happen to people who are alcoholics? thats what I heard anyway... and even if your an alcoholic the chances of it happening are 1 in a billion. I have to admit though when I first watched a program about it I got very very scared by the thought of it... but the fear of it wouldn't occupy my mind for long. it's still debated amongst scientists and such if its even REAL thats how rare the phenomenon is. its a complete mystery but it is an interesting topic.

It probably won't happen to you. Very few people have had, or witness this there is a extremely low chance that this will happen to you.

A few months ago I was really scared that this was going to happen to me but then I read up on it and found that it's supposedly impossible. It still worries me cos sometimes it randomly feels like something really hot is touching my leg or arm or whatever and I panic and think I'm gonna just set on fire.

This is virtually impossible. Usually it's due to a chemical reaction inside the body because something was ingested. Some one on home oxygen that eats buttery popcorn runs a high risk of combustion because pure oxygen combusts when mixed with grease.

  • The water wouldn't help since there'd be no time to put yourself out.

But I worry sometimes about it but it's supposedly not so much of a common thing, so chances are you won't actually self-combust.
