Is it normal to be so scared of running?

Ever since I was small, I have been afraid of running long distances. Though this is probably because the miles we had to run in school..
Do other people feel this way and how can i cope and learn to love running again?

OK, so it's not normal, thinking about people (women) in a bad way (wanting to have a relationship with them which is inappropriate in general) is wrong, I know that's a little off-topic, but just don't clear your thoughts and think about that.

Trust me i am a runner and i was viewing this site and came across this one, it is not normal to be scared of running, alot of people put it off without any real knowledge, I've read books and training logs and have seen people with handicaps and muscle problems in their legs run, and even an elderly man in his 70's runs in my neighborhood back home. You did not run that much back in school unless you were a cross country and distance track and field athlete, the stuff in gym is no comparison to some good old fashion jogging/running to shed off fat and stay lean. What are you even afraid of about going out for a small 10-20minute jog, people say its bad on your knees but just standing put the strain of gravity on your spine, it's a natural thing your body was meant to do. There's people who run 36.5mile straight for marathons you can say run 3miles 4-5times a week and you'll slowly see its not bad for yah, enjoy places you'd like to go without driving but not at the slow speed of walking!, It's refreshing unless you live in New York City you'll just inhale fumes but you really don't have a choice there, haha

I love running - I put on my mp3 player and start running. I go into a zone of comfort. When I get tired, my body doesn't want to stop, and by the end of 5 kilometers I've burned tons of calories! I'm rested and relaxed, and when I look in the mirror I'm trim and thin!

How can you be 'afraid' of running? Sure you can dislike it, but being scared of it, that makes no sense.

Become a member in a gym, and start running for short amounts of time. Make it a part of your routine; do 5 minutes running on the treadmill, then switch to 15 minutes on the bike, six days a week. (You need one off day, so that your muscles can heal.)
Gradually increase the time that you spend on the treadmill, about a minute per week. If that's too fast for you, increase by only 30 seconds a week. By doing it often (six days a week), the regular kick of endorphins will help you remember how wonderful it is, and by easing into it, you won't run the other way.

don't run in gyms or on treadmills, it's actually not helping you at all like real running outside is, your in a still air environment and the treadmill does the running for you, it's only a good idea if you can't run cause you get snow in the winter that's like 1/2foot or more like where i live, of course i still go out there with some yak-traks on my shoes and run.
