Is it normal to be shy of looking at peoples eyes

Yeah so I am really shy of looking at peoples eyes. Like when I talk to someone I try to avoid looking at their eyes by looking at my hands or reading something. I still listen to them, its just I never make eye contact. I only look at certain peoples eyes (ie. family, close friends). But when it comes to strangers or other people I totally avoid them. IIN?

Start by staring at any facial deformity they have and work your way up. It may get awkward but it increases your confidence and assholness AT THE SAME TIME!!! Trust me, I lie only sometimes.

Yeah, I have something weird going on like that too. I have this strange dream to be able to look deep into someones eye's, and actually feel something special. And I have had that happen to me in the past, where I've felt a connection looking into someones eye's. However, lately I've been finding myself pulling away when I see that somebody is actually trying to meet my eye's with there's. It's like I get choked up, and quickly look away. Desperately trying to avoid it.

But wingdinger said something that is good to know. I live in America, and it's true that sometimes people get the wrong impression when you stare eye to eye. Sometimes it can be rude, and in some part's even dangerous. There are a lot of part's in NY(nyc), and NJ that you wouldn't wanna try that whole starring bit.

It's good to make eye contact at least every few seconds during a conversation. Eye contact and how much you do of it plays a huge role in social interaction in all cultures. Some places (Middle East for example) they basically stare into each others eyes while conversing, while an American would usually find that very uncomfortable. In America, you come across as too forward and overbearing when you stare into peoples eyes. But not making any eye contact is not good, try to overcome it if possible.

Lmaoooo do not take Faceless's advice, look into their eyes and when they stop looking THEN look at the deformity.

I find it very rude if I'm talking to someone and they don't look at me. I understand you're shy but a stranger wouldn't know that, it's something you've got to deal with in life with work etc. You need a confidence boost!
