Is it normal to be scared of this for 3 years?

I am diabetic and have and insulin pump. I have to insert a thing by clicking a button and a needle goes into my skin. is it normal to be unable to click the button. I do it, it just takes me awhile, and I thnk it's jus the thought tht gets me. any advice?

    I'm type 1 and use a pump - I was only afraid for a few weeks but I am sure you will get used to it :) if you have a minimed I suggest using a quickset it's so much easier then other ones you can't feel it!

    I don't have diabetes (so far, it's genetic in my family) but I know alot of diabetics and I jump whenever they have to put the needle in. It's a body mind response that I think will just take time to get used to. My friend who has had it since birth seems to Handel it fine now, and she is 21.

  • My mom has been a diabetic for over 30 years and is even a diabetic educator at the hospital. She still hates putting the needle in for her insulin pump. She has gotten more used to it over the years though! You will get more used to it, it'll just take some time.
